artist - Track 10

Last weekend was Teenage Fanclub weekend. A triple treat, a trio of tip-top turns, a heroes welcome for a hatrick of homecoming shows. And any other number ofalliterative delights. Each show was different and each show was great… (in post Hang On! Acoustic Fanclub! from Plain Or Pan?. )

With summer right around the corner, my mind, like that of most music lovers, is turning towards what concerts I am going to attend this season. Living in the smallest Canadian province, Prince Edward Island, meant at one time I was limited to local talent. In fact, at one point the Atlantic Canadian provinces were missed all together. Nothing used to tick me off more than when a band announced a cross Canada tour and only went as far as Quebec. But this is not the case anymore. Over the past few years, we've seen many of the top country, pop and rock acts in the world grace our summer festivals and outdoor concert areas.

Last year I had the opportunity to see two great rock concerts and I would be hard pressed to pick which one was better. Aerosmith played an outdoor rock concert while The White Stripes performed in a small setting. Both were amazing and I'd go to see either act again in a heartbeat.

Along with PEI, Moncton New Brunswick and Halifax Nova Scotia are also pulling in big acts. This summer alone music goers in this region can take in Bob Dylan, Keith Urban, Kenny Rogers, Blue Man Group, and, of course, the Eagles. And PEI's big three day Festival of the Lights concert line up was just announced. For just sixty nine dollars you can take in such acts as The Tragically Hip, Hinder Our Lady Peace and Collective Soul.

I just hope that with all these big acts coming people don't forget about the vast local talent that we have in this reason. Even though we dished out big bucks last year for the two rock concerts, we also made sure we saw local talent, including Gordie Sampson and Shaye. And this summer will be no different. For us it will be a mix of big acts and local talent.

All that is left is for me to sit back and chose. Decisions, decisions.
